Shanghai has exceeded 220,000 elevators in use

According to the "Labor Daily", by the end of 2016, Shanghai had more than 220,000 elevators in use, and it has been more than 10 years since Shanghai has become the city with the most elevators in use in the world. Yesterday, the Municipal Bureau of Quality Supervision hosted the "2017 China (Shanghai) Elevator Industry Innovation and Development Exchange Seminar" to explore new measures for elevator safety management and new paths for system reform and development. The meeting pointed out that by 2020, Shanghai will build the Shanghai Elevator Big Data Center and initially form a smart elevator network. In the future, all elevators in the city will be brought into platform management and will be replicated and promoted nationwide.

At present, Shanghai and the surrounding Yangtze River Delta region are the most concentrated areas of the elevator industry in the world. There are more than 150 elevator manufacturers and hundreds of elevator supporting enterprises. It is the largest elevator industry cluster in the world; it produces and sells more than 450,000 units per year. Elevators account for about half of the global annual elevator production and sales and two-thirds of the country.
