The number of elevators should match the number of occupants. One elevator with a speed of 1 meter per second and a capacity of more than 750 kg should be installed for every 80 slab or tower buildings; for more than 80 houses, two elevators should be installed, and the capacity of one elevator is generally 1000 kg. , the other is not less than 400 kg. For residential buildings with more than 120 households, three elevators are required. If the clear height of the whole building exceeds 100 meters, it is a super high-rise building, and three elevators are also required.

Buildings with a height of more than 9 floors must be equipped with fire elevators. The fire elevator does not need to be deactivated when encountering a fire in the building, and its power supply operation can be a self-contained system. For floors above 13 floors, two elevators are required, and one of the elevators must be able to accommodate a stretcher.

In addition to the functions of fire and non-fire, elevators also have high and low speeds. The speed of ordinary elevators used in general buildings is 1 m/s. When the height of the building exceeds 100 meters, a high-speed elevator must be equipped with a speed of more than 1.5 meters per second.
